Vintages Fancy Wine Deals May 2011
I really don't know much about wine, except that I like drinking it. To help people like me, Vintages includes the ratings of the various wine critics in their upcoming release list, which, though clearly subjective, are somewhat of a good indicator of the highs and lows of the list. When I'm looking for the catalog's best values, I like to compare price vs. rating.
So for anyone else in Ontario who enjoys the value of a highly rated wine for cheap, here's the output of a script I wrote to pull down the latest VCC releases, calculate the value of each (as defined as rating points per dollar per millilitre), and sort descending by value. Enjoy!
Incidentally, my most knowledgeable wine buddy Duarte hinted that some critic points are more valuable than others. Next release I'll see if I can weight certain critic points higher than others. Snobbery!
Also, for general LCBO searching, skip the official website and go right to Carsten Nielsen's lcbosearch.com (based on his awesome lcboapi.com). It's about 1000% better looking and easier to use.
